Cyprus in 1955 adopted the decimal system and the pound is now divided by 1,000 mils (???? mils / mil), fractional division that change by 100 cents (???? sent / sent) in 1983. The currencies of mils no longer have legal value.
On May 2, 2005 the Cyprus pound entered the Exchange Rate Mechanism ERM II European, which amounted to 0.585274 pounds a EUR, with a fluctuation band of 15%, which is almost as if he had a fixed exchange rate against the euro.
