International German Championships

Berlin opened the 23rd International German Championships in disabled swimming double Olympic winner Britta Steffen, the persons in charge of the 23rd International showed bsb highly satisfied with the participation of 475 swimmers and swimmers from 31 Nations German Championships in swimming of the disabled (IDM) at the official opening on May 29, 2009. From 28 to 31 May 2009 the 475 assets from 119 clubs and associations in the swimming and jumping Hall in the Europa Sportpark Berlin meet, including 73 clubs with 184 participants from Germany. Thus are 299 sportsmen and sportswomen from 30 other Nations (Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Great Britain, Croatia, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belarus, Cyprus) doing, where Spain with 54 participants from 6 clubs the is the largest foreign contingent. The IDM was officially opened on the second day of the competition traditionally. Double Olympic champion Britta Steffen was the symbolic starting signal in the swimming and jumping Hall in the Europa Sport Park at Landsberger Allee in Berlin at 16:20. From Berlin take 21 active from 5 clubs (BSV Kopenick 5, BSV Northeast 2, BSV wedding-Reinickendorf 1, PSC Berlin 12 and SC Sieme City 1) with more than 100 starts.
